TLDR: bad customer service from what i thought was a cool company Just link to this next time and keep it moving. Maybe I am the prick here for overreacting to a simple response to my question, but in my opinion a customer support person has no business touting development philosophies onto their customers while servicing bugs. Suckers like me pay them $100 for an email application without a calendar.

I too think that approach can work and clearly it has for them. I truly admire the fact that Basecamp is successful applying their development philosophies that do not involve product roadmaps.

What provoked this support person to reply to my message when there was no update to my underlying issue? I get answering the calendar question, but with two links to dated blog posts from the cofounder and no information about the bug affecting my account, it felt like a holier-than-thou response. Just the paragraph about their roadmap philosophy and calendar feature. there was no correspondence about my original support request regarding the speakeasy key. We don't currently have any plans to implement a calendar. We find they are more detrimental to development than helpful. 'We don't have a roadmap, public or private. The answer was no, but how the question was answered irritated me: I asked at the bottom of the email: 'random question, but is there a public roadmap for HEY I could follow? Or do you know if there is a plan to add a calendar feature?'. Along with providing a screen recording of my issue and screenshots of the twitter correspondence, I also asked a product related question which was a mistake. After validating the bug, they asked me to email this information to their support email address. I DM'd support on Twitter and received some help.

I was experiencing a UI bug related to the speakeasy key. However after a recent interaction with their support staff, my opinion of this product and company has changed. I have been a fan of Basecamp dating back to 37signals and the inception of Ruby on Rails. It's not for everyone but certainly a cool attempt at a new email experience. HEY has lots of obscure features/quirks that you can read about on their website.

I enjoy some of the features, although if you expect this to be comparable to any other email software you have used before, then look elsewhere. I was very excited to use this as my personal email so I bought a $100 annual subscription.
